Hello Peterson Families,
Welcome to a brand-new school year! I am so excited to see our hallways filled with energy, curiosity, and joy once again. Whether you are returning to our school or joining us for the first time, I want you to know that you are an important part of our Peterson community. As the new principal, I’m excited to continue building our traditions and celebrations of what makes Peterson great!
This year, we will keep our focus on a few big goals. First and most important, we are committed to keeping every student safe—physically, socially, and emotionally. When children feel safe and cared for, they are free to grow, take risks, and learn.
Second, we want our Panthers to be agents of their own learning. That means giving students the tools and confidence to ask questions, set goals, and discover new ways of solving problems. We believe learning is most powerful when students feel ownership and pride in it.
Third, we are continuing to build a culture of respect and inclusion. Every child and every staff member deserves to be seen, heard, and valued. We will celebrate our differences, lift each other up, and work together to make Peterson a place where everyone belongs.
This year, we are thrilled to introduce our new Life Skills classrooms. These classrooms will provide meaningful opportunities for students to learn independence, communication, and real-world skills in supportive and engaging ways. We know they will be a bright addition to our school, and we can’t wait to watch our community grow stronger because of them.
Families, thank you for trusting us with your children and for partnering with us on this journey. Together, we will make this a year of growth, kindness, and success for every Panther.
Here’s to a safe, joyful, and inspiring school year at Peterson Elementary!
Best,Shay LaCasse
