We use the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) model. MTSS is a blend of Montana Behavioral Initiative (MBI) and Response to Intervention to support student growth both academically and behaviorally.
MTSS involves all students in a well integrated system connecting student needs to intervention and enrichment. Student needs are identified through academic progress monitoring in the classroom and school common areas. Intervention and enrichment are matched directly to student academic, social and behavioral needs.
Key Principles of MTSS
Intervene early and monitor student progress frequently
Use a multi-tiered model of service delivery and match instruction to the learner’s needs
Use progress monitoring data to change instruction within each tier
Use research-based interventions and instruction
Employ practices to ensure practices are implemented with fidelity
Document and encourage parental involvement in the process
